Ground water containing pesticides and herbicides can seep into the drinking supply and many of these chemicals mimic or interfere with estrogen in the body. A herbicide called atrazine is one of the biggest potential threats even though the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says that drinking water containing levels of 3 parts per billion is safe for ingestion. This “safe” level is considered by some scientists to be way too high. Consider buying a carbon-based filter for a pitcher, or an under-the-sink or a faucet mounted system that nabs atrazine.
