How Hypnosis Can Help You to Achieve Your Goals
By Valerie Dawson, MSW, CHt
When people talk about hypnosis, most believe that it is a world of fluff and magic. Your first experience with it may be from movies or stage shows. But it can also be used in transformational therapy, where it can help you to achieve your personal and professional goals.
Did you know that there are two main parts to your mind?
The first one is our conscious mind – the one most people think controls their goal setting and their success. It’s our usual and normal state of thought, as we think over problems, think of opportunities and access information from our environment. The conscious mind is logical, rational, and thinks that it’s in control.
Many people think it is their most powerful mind, but it only represents 10 percent of our mind power.
While the conscious mind is at work during the waking state, the subconscious mind is working simultaneously. It’s accessing millions of pieces of information at lightning-fast speed. You don’t really ‘think’ of it, as it’s in the background – absorbing, processing, and storing information.
The subconscious mind is responsible for an immense amount of information. It’s responsible for our automatic and involuntary reactions. It also represents 90 percent of our mind’s power.
It’s responsible for putting together all the stored information. Your memories are stored in the subconscious mind. The subconscious is also the creative, imaginative part or your mind. While you think an idea just “comes off the top of your head”, it’s already been processed through your subconscious.
We all experience mental blocks which can negatively affect our emotions, relationships, work, health and more. The problem is that we don’t know how to free ourselves of these blocks.
The good news is that hypnosis can free you of your old negative programming. With hypnosis, your negative beliefs and limiting thoughts are removed and replaced with positive, empowering thoughts and beliefs, such as confidence, self-esteem, motivation, and optimism.
If you’re concerned about hypnosis, the fact is that it’s a natural state that we’ve all experienced. Have you ever been driving your car and not carefully thinking about every stoplight or turn? Somehow, you arrive at your destination. You may even joke that your car knew the way. Actually, you were in a trance-like or hypnotic state.
Experts believe that individual hypnosis with a hypnotherapist is the best way to access the subconscious mind. While many believe that they can’t be hypnotized, with today’s advanced methods, 99% of people can achieve hypnosis and make positive changes in their lives.
By tapping into the subconscious, you can finally lose weight, reduce pain, manage stress, improve your health, and reach your life’s goals. Hypnosis can help you address the more powerful mind – the stronger mind, where you can overcome your challenges and have a happier, healthier, more successful life.
